Françoise Hardy charmed Italy in its own language on Canta per voi in italiano, and this expanded Legacy Edition spreads her Italian recordings across two green vinyl LPs.
By 1963 her debut hit had travelled well beyond France, and its Italian version, "Quelli Della Mia Età," became a success in its own right. Vogue followed up with this album, which gathered Italian-language versions of songs from her first two French records, with lyricist Vito Pallavicini adapting every text. It was a smart move that cemented her popularity south of the Alps.
The original running order opens with "Il Tuo Migliore Amico," and the songs keep their wistful, intimate feel even in translation. "L'Età Dell'Amore," her Italian take on "Le Temps De L'Amour," holds on to the dreamy melancholy of the French original, while "Ci Sto" brings a lighter, more playful touch. This edition goes further, adding more of the Italian recordings she made during the 1960s.
Hardy's voice sounds just as natural in Italian, soft and slightly aloof, with the same gentle phrasing that made her famous at home. The arrangements stay light and airy around it.
