Joseph’s Deli & Lottery is an imagined soundtrack to a place Fox Academy has never stepped inside – yet somehow knows by heart. After a long break from recording, the band reunited in a small Pacific Northwest town for a day of filming, only to stumble into something bigger: a rediscovery of their creative pulse.
That day unfolded like a film. They wandered through streets, finding beauty in the mundane, humor in the overlooked, and intrigue in the shadows. As night fell, a mysterious orange glow on the horizon became their compass. When they finally reached its source, they didn’t enter – they carried that curiosity home, pouring it into a new album instead.
The result is a record that drifts between the comforting embrace of darkness and the sudden clarity of light. Its songs sway like flickering streetlamps, balancing gentle acceptance with bursts of revelation. True to form, Fox Academy laces their music with affection for love, beauty, convenience stores, food, Halloween, brands, corporations, and the peculiar poetry of professional sports.
Blending new textures with their trademark lo-fi charm, Joseph’s Deli & Lottery is both a dream you can live inside and a memory you’ve never had – an invitation to linger in the glow just outside the door.
