Foreigner's Records returns as a limited anniversary edition, the 1982 hits collection that boiled the band's first four albums down to ten songs.

Between 1977 and 1981, Mick Jones and Lou Gramm built one of the most reliable hit machines in rock, pairing Jones's muscular riffs and sharp songwriting with Gramm's soaring, bluesy voice. Records was assembled at the height of that run, just after 4 had taken the band's sound in a slicker, synth-touched direction, and it went on to become one of the best-selling albums in their whole catalogue.

"Cold as Ice" opens with its stabbing piano and sharp harmonies, while "Waiting for a Girl Like You" glides on shimmering keyboards and one of Gramm's most tender vocals. "Urgent" struts on a funky groove and a blazing saxophone solo from Junior Walker. The collection signs off with a live version of "Hot Blooded", capturing the band's raw energy on stage and reminding everyone how hard they could hit in front of a crowd.

As a single-disc snapshot of a band at its commercial peak, it is genuinely hard to beat. It plays like the best possible radio afternoon from the late 70s and early 80s, with no filler at all between the hooks.
