Two Boston bands, one shared record: New England Forever pairs Dropkick Murphys with fellow local punks Haywire on a split LP built on mutual respect.

The friendship was forged on the road, when Haywire joined the Dropkicks across Europe in 2025 and then supported them on their 2026 St. Patrick's Day run, where the record first surfaced as a tour exclusive. Each band contributed three originals and covered one of the other's songs, which turns the whole thing into a conversation rather than two separate halves.

The Dropkick Murphys side opens with Citizen I.C.E., a newly recorded overhaul of their 2005 song Citizen C.I.A. with Haywire in tow, and its pointed political message sets the tone. Their side closes with a cover of Haywire's Always By My Side, a warm gesture towards their tour mates.

Flip the record and Haywire take the lead, opening with the title track New England Forever, which features the Dropkicks in return. Their side finishes with a run through The Boys Are Back, the Dropkick Murphys anthem, returning the favour in kind.

For anyone who follows Boston punk, this is a neat snapshot of the city's scene sharing one sleeve, two bands trading songs like old friends trading rounds.
