Doro's Warriors of the Sea hoists the pirate flag for a hard-hitting stopgap from the Metal Queen, pairing new studio tracks with a side of live favourites.
Doro Pesch has been fronting heavy metal since her days leading Warlock in the 1980s, and she remains a tireless road warrior. Arriving in 2025, two years after the Conqueress - Forever Strong and Proud album, this release was never meant to be a full studio record. Instead it gathers five studio recordings, led by the title song she wrote as an anthem for metal cruises and summer festivals, and backs them with five tracks captured on her sold-out 2024 and 2025 tour.
Warriors of the Sea is built for crowds, with a chorus made to be shouted back from the deck. Doro also takes a swing at AC/DC's Touch Too Much, while Tattooed Angels keeps the leather-and-chrome spirit flying. Over on the live side, Raise Your Fist in the Air becomes exactly the call to arms its title promises, with her band of Bas Maas, Nick Douglas and Johnny Dee hitting hard behind her.
Her voice, raspy and commanding, has lost none of its punch.
For longtime fans, it is a fun, generous snapshot of an artist who still treats every show like a celebration.
