Joe Keery's Djo project went full synth-pop on DECIDE, the 2022 album that later caught fire thanks to End of Beginning, pressed here on blue vinyl.

Keery is best known to many as Steve from Stranger Things, but Djo has never felt like a side hustle or a vanity project. Written and produced with Adam Thein during lockdown and recorded in Los Angeles, DECIDE swapped the psychedelic haze of debut Twenty Twenty for shimmering synths, drum machines and big, slightly wonky pop hooks. Its lyrics circle relationships and the strange anxiety of growing up and changing.

End of Beginning is the obvious headline here, a wistful ode to Chicago and the past that blew up online in 2024 and turned Keery into a genuine chart act. Change and Gloom were early singles that hinted at the album's playful bounce, and opener Runner sets the scene for a record that never stays in one mood for long.

For listeners who arrived through the viral moment, the full album shows there was always a lot more going on beneath the surface. The blue vinyl makes a fine match for the record's dreamy, neon-lit mood, and it rewards a front-to-back listen far more than any playlist ever could.
