Descendents' Liveage! catches the band at full sprint in 1987, eighteen songs in roughly half an hour, pressed here on clear orange vinyl.

Recorded at First Avenue in Minneapolis on the tour behind ALL, these were some of the last shows the band played before a long hiatus. Milo Aukerman, Stephen Egerton, Karl Alvarez and Bill Stevenson had just made their tightest studio record, and the stage was where that discipline turned into pure adrenaline. Stevenson produced the album himself, and the mix keeps the sweat and the crowd noise right up front.

The setlist plays like a career summary. "Silly Girl" and "Suburban Home" arrive at double speed, "Hope" still aches underneath the noise, and "Clean Sheets" brings the set home with a bittersweet singalong. In between, a handful of blink-and-you-miss-it joke songs keep things funny and the pace relentless. Egerton's guitar is all bright, buzzing downstrokes, while Alvarez and Stevenson lock together with the precision of a rhythm section that clearly put in the hours.

For anyone raised on Milo Goes to College, this is the band in its natural habitat, loud and fast but completely sincere. The speed and the melody both survive the trip from stage to tape, and the orange wax makes it a bright spot on any shelf.
