Pete Burns and Dead or Alive went big and glossy on Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know, now a 40th anniversary 140-gram 2LP UK import with a disc of remixes.

Riding high on the global success of their previous album Youthquake, the band returned to the Stock Aitken Waterman production line for their third album in 1986. Its title borrows Lady Caroline Lamb's famous description of Lord Byron, a fitting tag for a frontman who thrived on drama, danger and outrageous style.

The music matches the image. "Brand New Lover" gallops along on hi-NRG synths and a hook built for the dance floor, while "Something In My House" brings a deliciously gothic chill, carried by Burns's commanding baritone. "Hooked On Love" and "I'll Save You All My Kisses" complete a run of four UK chart singles drawn from the album.
