Everyday is the Dave Matthews Band album that swapped jam-band sprawl for tight, radio-ready songs, cut here at 45 RPM across two 140 gram LPs.

The 2001 RCA release marked a sharp turn. The band had spent months working with longtime producer Steve Lillywhite, but those sessions felt too dark and were shelved. Matthews then teamed up with Glen Ballard, writing the entire album with him in under two weeks. The result was brighter, punchier and more polished than anything the band had done, and it went straight to the top of the Billboard 200.

"I Did It" opens with a swaggering, electric strut, announcing the new direction from the first chord. "The Space Between" became the band's first US top 40 hit, a bittersweet ballad built on a gentle, swaying groove and one of Matthews' most heartfelt vocals. "Mother Father" features Carlos Santana's soaring electric guitar, while the closing title track "Everyday", with South African singer Vusi Mahlasela on backing vocals, ends things on a joyful, communal note.

Polished and catchy, Everyday remains a divisive but deeply loved chapter in the band's story. Spread across two discs at 45 RPM, it gives Carter Beauford's drumming and those bright guitars plenty of headroom.
