Danny Elfman and Chris Bacon's music for Wednesday brings a deliciously gothic sensibility to Nevermore Academy, here as a 2LP set on purple smoke vinyl.

Elfman and Tim Burton go back decades, from Beetlejuice to The Nightmare Before Christmas, so it felt only right that the composer returned when Burton took on the Addams Family's most famous daughter for Netflix in 2022. Elfman wrote the main theme and worked alongside Chris Bacon on the series score, which follows Wednesday through murders, monsters and buried family secrets.

"Wednesday Main Titles" is pure Elfman, a darting, playful theme with a wicked streak of humor and a knowing wink of the macabre. From there, the score moves between creeping suspense and moments of genuine warmth. Cue titles such as "Secret Library", "Uncle Fester" and "End Credits" trace the season's twists from first mystery to final reveal, with all 33 cues gathered across the four sides.

It is a reminder of how much personality a television score can carry when the people behind it understand the material this well.
