A decade on, Danny Brown's Atrocity Exhibition returns as a 10th anniversary edition on colored double vinyl, wrapped in new alternate artwork from the album's original sleeve designer.

Released on Warp in 2016, the record borrowed its name from a Joy Division song and lived up to the reference. Brown, already known for his yelping delivery and unfiltered honesty on XXX and Old, turned darker and more inward, writing about addiction, anxiety and excess over beats that sounded like little else in rap that year. It remains the album many fans point to when explaining why he matters.

Much of the production comes from Paul White, whose off-kilter sample choices give Downward Spiral and Ain't It Funny their queasy, lurching energy. Really Doe gathers Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Earl Sweatshirt for a celebrated posse cut, while When It Rain channels Detroit club energy into one of the record's most propulsive tracks.

Ten years later, its influence can be heard in a generation of rappers willing to sound uncomfortable on purpose, and the songs have lost none of their bite.

With its fresh sleeve design, this pressing sits as a distinct object next to any original copy, and a fitting way to revisit a record that still sounds gloriously close to falling apart.
