Crossbone Skully's second album, Condemned to Rock n' Roll, lands in 2027 on 180-gram blue marble vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, and the title tells you exactly what to expect.

The band is the brainchild of Tommy Henriksen, a guitarist for Alice Cooper and the Hollywood Vampires, whose idea took shape around 2018 while jamming AC/DC songs at soundcheck. The 2024 debut, Evil World Machine, brought Robert John "Mutt" Lange out of retirement, and he returns here as executive producer. Fellow Alice Cooper guitarist Anna "Blackthorn" Cara stands alongside Henriksen, with a revolving crew of rock misfits around them.

Let's Kick Some Ass opens with the kind of intent its title promises, and the title track doubles down on the band's mission statement. Thunder Love features Def Leppard's Phil Collen singing and playing, a natural fit given Lange's long history with that band. Riding with Angels, the second single, shows a more melodic side.

Henriksen draws on eighties metal, classic rock, pop and even country, and the mix by Jay Ruston, mastered by Howie Weinberg, keeps everything loud and glossy.

It is unashamedly old-school hard rock, made by people who clearly love the stuff, and it wears that devotion proudly from the first riff to the last chorus.
