Middle-earth gets the deluxe treatment in The Music From Lord Of The Rings, a limited edition four-LP box set in which the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra performs music from all three films.

Howard Shore's score became one of the defining film soundtracks of the early 2000s, built around a web of recurring themes for the peoples and places of Tolkien's world. The Prague orchestra has a long history of recording music for the screen, and it brings that cinematic scale to these performances, moving from pastoral calm to the full clash of battle.

The sequence follows the trilogy in order, beginning with The Fellowship Of The Ring. "Concerning Hobbits" brings gentle, homely warmth, "The Riders Of Rohan" rides in with stern, noble grandeur, and "The Fields Of Pelennor" builds toward full orchestral thunder. The end-credit songs are here too, and the closing side gathers them together for a reflective farewell that ends with "Into The West."

Spread over eight sides, the set gives each film its own space, making it an easy companion for a long evening of listening from the Shire all the way to the Grey Havens.
