Long before the arena choruses and electronic gloss, Bring Me The Horizon were a young Sheffield band making a gloriously ugly noise, and Count Your Blessings is that noise pressed onto eco vinyl.

Released in 2006 on Visible Noise, the debut was recorded at DEP International Studios in Birmingham with Dan Sprigg producing alongside the band. Oli Sykes, Lee Malia, Curtis Ward, Matt Kean and Matt Nicholls were chasing extremity rather than polish, landing squarely in deathcore territory. Reviews were split at the time, yet the record has since become a reference point for the deathcore scene.

Opener Pray for Plagues sets the terms, with Sykes's shredded screams riding down-tuned riffs and pit-ready breakdowns. For Stevie Wonder's Eyes Only (Braille) and (I Used to Make Out With) Medusa show off the band's taste for absurd song titles, while Black & Blue keeps the pressure on and melodic death metal guitar lines cut through the chaos.

The band have long kept their distance from this era, with Sykes admitting they would never sound like that again, and in 2026 he and Malia re-recorded it from the ground up. This is the original 2006 version, rough edges intact: for anyone who arrived via Sempiternal or amo, it is the raw blueprint.
