Not Bad for New Jersey finds Brian Fallon back in full-band, foot-on-the-monitor mode, pressed here on white vinyl.
Best known as the voice of The Gaslight Anthem, Fallon released the album in 2026 as his first collection of original solo songs since Local Honey in 2020. For this one he reunited with producer Butch Walker, who had helmed his solo debut, Painkillers, and the pair aimed for high-energy, power-pop-leaning rock built around underdogs turning setbacks into fuel.
The guest list is impressive without crowding Fallon out. Brandon Flowers of The Killers joins on "Love at the End of the World", Def Leppard's Phil Collen appears on "Somewhere You Shouldn't Be", and Lori McKenna shares "On Good Terms". Marc Ribot brings his distinctive guitar to the closing "Wolf by the River", and the title track sets the tone right up front.
It is heart-on-sleeve songwriting with big guitars and bigger choruses, the kind of record that sounds best loud with the windows down. Fallon has always written about ordinary people chasing something better, and these songs carry that spirit with fresh energy.
Longtime Gaslight Anthem fans will find plenty to love, and the white pressing makes a sharp addition to the shelf.
