Another Green World is the album where Brian Eno stopped writing songs about landscapes and started building them from scratch, now remastered on 180-gram vinyl.

Released in 1975, his third solo record sits at the hinge between the art pop of his first two albums and the ambient music he would pioneer a few years later. Eno treated the studio as an instrument, leaning on Oblique Strategies, the card deck he created with Peter Schmidt, to steer sessions, and invited friends such as Robert Fripp and Phil Collins to add parts to his sketches. Songs surface among instrumental miniatures, and it all flows like a single dream.

St. Elmo's Fire carries Fripp's guitar through a jittery, glowing groove, Sky Saw bristles with restless energy, Becalmed lives up to its title with a slow, tide-like drift, and Spirits Drifting floats in the space where ambient music was about to be born.

Its influence on ambient, art rock, indie and film scoring is hard to overstate, and it still sounds startlingly fresh. This remastered 180-gram pressing gives a record built almost entirely from atmosphere the room it needs. Put it on, dim the lights, and let the green world slowly open up around you.
