The Endless Coloured Ways: The Songs of Nick Drake - Bombay Bicycle [7-inch] Vinyl
A quietly powerful tribute finds new voice on this intimate 7-inch from Bombay Bicycle Club and The Staves, reimagining the timeless songs of Nick Drake.
Released in 2023 as part of the wider Endless Coloured Ways project, this special pressing captures the spirit of a tribute album that asked artists not to imitate Drake, but to inhabit him. Curated by Chrysalis Records, the collection invited musicians across generations and genres to forget the original arrangements and rebuild these songs from the inside out, guided only by emotional truth and melodic instinct.
Bombay Bicycle Club’s take on Which Will leans into hushed tension and modern indie minimalism, letting Drake’s fragile questioning feel newly immediate. On the flip side, The Staves bring their signature sibling harmonies to Cello Song, transforming it into something warm, communal, and quietly reverent without sanding off its melancholy edges. Both interpretations honor Drake’s songwriting by trusting its strength enough to let it bend.
Pressed on classic 7-inch vinyl, this release feels intentionally modest, echoing Drake’s own resistance to spectacle. It is not about grand statements, but about careful listening and deep respect for songcraft.
As a collector’s piece, it stands as a beautiful artifact of shared influence, where contemporary voices gently converse with a legacy that continues to color modern music in subtle, enduring ways.
