Bob Dylan was at the height of his powers on Blonde on Blonde, presented here on 150-gram vinyl across two LPs in a gatefold jacket.

Released in 1966, the album completed a remarkable run that began with Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited. Recorded largely in Nashville with producer Bob Johnston and a crew of ace session players, alongside Al Kooper and Robbie Robertson, it was one of rock's first double albums and remains among the most celebrated records Dylan ever made.

Visions of Johanna is a hazy, mesmerising portrait of longing, and Just Like a Woman balances tenderness with Dylan's characteristic bite. I Want You bounces on a jaunty, carnival-bright melody, while the side-long Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands unfolds like a slow, devotional dream that seems to stop time.

Dylan later described what he was chasing as a thin, wild mercury sound, and you can hear it everywhere: swirling organ, ringing guitars and harmonica cutting through the haze, with his voice at its most playful and mysterious. The songs are funny and wounded, often in the same line.

Spread across four sides as it was always meant to be heard, this is a landmark that rewards every spin and belongs at the heart of any rock collection.
