Big Mama Thornton was a force of nature, and The Very Best Of collects the songs that prove it on a 180 gram vinyl LP.

Her voice was gutsy, earthy and coarse, yet always carried beauty, sensitivity and control, a rare combination that made her one of the great blues singers. She also wrote Ball and Chain, the song later made famous by Janis Joplin.
