"Black Hole" already proved that Betraying the Martyrs managed to find an astounding new singer with Rui Martins, who doesn't only extend the band's sound in new-found versatility - He literally levels up the band's sound to higher scopes. The first track off the EP starts with groovy metalcore riffs accompanied by the band's typical synthesizers, which will instantly tell you that the key trademarks of Betraying the Martyrs haven't changed. On top of their inimitable metalcore sound there's a fresh breeze of vocal interplays between Victor Guilett and Rui Martins. Both voices end up in the most harmonizing and catchiest vocal lines Betraying the Martyrs ever had and reveal strong alternative rock vibes amid of modern metalcore on "Embers" and "Swan Song". Moreover, precise deathcore elements round up the sound with smashing breakdowns within heavy-hitting tracks like "Mirror" and the stomping "Pressure". With "Silver Linings", Betraying the Martyrs manage to extract the essence out of their music and amend it with Rui Martins compelling vocals. The result is an EP that perfectly thrives the band's sonic evolution, while incorporating the band's trademarks in their most modern approach to date.
