Pylon finds beabadoobee plugging straight into the amp, a fourth album that trades polished alt-pop for fuzz and emo heart, pressed on green vinyl with a poster.

After 2024's This Is How Tomorrow Moves, the Dirty Hit songwriter went looking for something rawer and louder. Most of the album was co-written with Title Fight's Shane Moran and Luca Buccellati, and the guest list reads like a love letter to the bands she grew up on, with Hayley Williams, Chino Moreno, Turnstile's Brendan Yates and Pinegrove's Evan Stephens Hall all turning up along the way.

Lead single "Sun Has Set" sets the tone with petty, tunnel-vision fury, a song about wanting someone gone and meaning every word. From the title-track opener through "Switchblade" and the closing "Satellite", she leans hard into classic grunge, midwest emo and 90s radio rock, writing the things she wishes she had said to someone at the time. That unmistakably soft voice rides on top of the noise, which is exactly what makes the heavier moments hit so hard.

It is the loudest she has ever sounded, and somehow the most honest too. Fourteen songs, plenty of distortion and a sticky melody around every corner: turn it up and let the feedback ring.
