New Maps of Hell Vinyl
Bad Religion’s New Maps of Hell is a fiery return to form, bursting with punk grit and razor-sharp lyricism.
Released in 2007, this is the band’s 14th studio album, and it pulls no punches. From the frantic blast of “Heroes & Martyrs” to the searing anthem “New Dark Ages,” this record proves that Bad Religion still has plenty to say - and they’re saying it loudly.
Across 16 tracks, the band rips through urgent themes of political decay, spiritual confusion, and societal hypocrisy. “Requiem for Dissent” charges forward with classic hardcore energy, while “Honest Goodbye” offers a rare, emotionally vulnerable slow burn. Tracks like “Dearly Beloved” and “Germs of Perfection” showcase the band’s signature mix of breakneck tempos and intellectual introspection. This is punk rock for people who actually read the lyrics - and probably a few philosophy books too.
The production, handled by Joe Barresi along with Brett Gurewitz and Greg Graffin, gives the record a muscular edge without losing its raw punk roots. The hooks are tight, the harmonies sharp, and the urgency palpable. It’s fast, it’s angry, and it’s smart.
If you’re looking to dive into the deep end of melodic hardcore, New Maps of Hell is a hell of a place to start. No filler, all fire - Bad Religion still burns bright.
