Baby Rose has one of the most unmistakable voices in modern soul, and YEARNALISM puts it front and centre, pressed here on maroon vinyl as deep and dusky as the singing.
Her third album and the follow-up to Through and Through, this 2026 release finds the Washington, D.C.-born artist taking firmer control of her sound. She produced the record and wrote most of it herself, with longtime collaborator Biako alongside her as executive producer and Moritz Braun mixing, and the result plays like a self-portrait drawn through sorrow and hardship toward something hopeful.
The palette pulls from soul, gospel, jazz, rock and classic R&B, with clear nods to the Muscle Shoals era and to singers like Etta James, Nina Simone and Janis Joplin. "Friends Again", her duet with Leon Thomas, became a breakout, while "Is This Love" welcomes Elmiene into the fold. "Better" and the retro-leaning "But, Nvm" show how at home she is with a live-band feel and vintage warmth, the kind of sound that seems to crackle even on a pristine pressing.
Twelve songs, carried by a voice that sounds like it has lived every line.
