Two guitar giants, one long-awaited summit: Riding with the King brings B.B. King and Eric Clapton together on a grey and yellow marbled double LP.

Released in 2000, the album was the full-length collaboration blues fans had wanted for decades. Clapton had long named King as a guiding light, and here student and master share the spotlight as equals, trading verses and solos with obvious delight. Co-produced by Clapton and Simon Climie, it went on to win a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album.

The title track "Riding with the King," a John Hiatt song, sets the tone with a rolling groove and two voices that fit together like old friends. "Key to the Highway" strips things back to acoustic guitars and front-porch ease, while "Three O'Clock Blues" and "Ten Long Years" revisit songs from B.B.'s early career with fresh fire. Lucille sings, Clapton answers, and the band keeps a warm, unhurried swing underneath.

The marbled grey and yellow pressing gives a much-loved record a striking new look, spread across two discs so the music has plenty of room to breathe.

It plays like a celebration between two friends with nothing left to prove, and it remains one of the warmest blues records of its era.
