Indigo is Asia's first studio album since 2014, a 2LP set arriving in 2026 that carries the band forward with a new line-up and a debt to an old friend.

Geoff Downes started writing it with John Wetton in 2015, before Wetton's illness and death in 2017 brought the work to a halt. A tribute concert in 2023 united the players who now carry the name: Downes on keyboards, John Mitchell on guitar, Harry Whitley on bass and vocals, and Virgil Donati on drums. After touring together, they recorded the album through 2025, with Downes and the band producing and Mitchell handling the mix.

The Traveller (Into The Light) opens with the big keyboard fanfares and soaring choruses the name promises, and Arcadia keeps that melodic drive going. At the centre sits the three-part Tattoo Indigo suite, its second and third parts among the final songs Wetton wrote. Chesapeake Bay, also from Wetton's pen, features Steve Howe on acoustic guitar, bringing another founding member back into the fold.

There is real emotion in hearing those late compositions finished by the people who knew him best.

For longtime fans, Indigo feels like a proper continuation rather than a nostalgia exercise, polished and melodic, and unapologetically grand in scale.
