Angus & Julia Stone have always sounded like siblings sharing a secret, and Karaoke Bar, their seventh studio album, pulls up a stool and lets everyone in on it.

Arriving in 2026, two years after Cape Forestier, the record was written and recorded across Greece, France and Australia, and you can hear the travel in it. The title track took shape on the Greek island of Hydra, and the album as a whole carries a sun-warmed, salt-air looseness, leaning towards joy and togetherness rather than the bittersweet ache the duo are often known for.

"Karaoke Bar" opens with a dreamlike glow, and "Celestial Bodies" floats along in the same hazy, starlit register. "Monroe", one of the album's early singles, keeps the mood warm and easy, while "Take Me Back To Japan" lets the record's wanderlust run free before "Mexico City" brings things home.

The production stays intimate and unfussy, leaving plenty of room for the intertwined harmonies that made them one of Australia's most beloved musical partnerships in the first place. Nothing is rushed, and the songs feel lived in rather than polished to a shine.

It plays like a long night out with old friends who still know every word to your favourite song, and it ends with you wanting one more round.
