Amyl and the Sniffers trade the mosh pit for the honky-tonk on Truth or Consequence, a live album that gives their pub-punk anthems a country-fried makeover.

Recorded and filmed in 2025 at El Coyote in Los Angeles, in front of an intimate and increasingly rowdy crowd, the set doubles as the soundtrack to a concert film of the same name, captured by longtime collaborator John Angus Stewart. It is a loose, joyous detour for the Melbourne band, who have spent years proving they can flatten any room with distortion and now show they can do it with twang as well.

Hertz reveals how much melody was always hiding under the noise, with Amy Taylor's unmistakable snarl riding a looser, back-porch arrangement. Two previously unreleased songs, Fella and Bag of Cocaine, hand longtime fans something genuinely new, and a heartfelt run through Slim Dusty's Lights on the Hill tips the hat to a giant of Australian country music. Across the whole set, the songs bend into new shapes without losing an ounce of their bite.

It is scrappy and warm, and it sounds like everyone in the room was having the night of their lives. File it next to the studio albums as proof that a great song can survive any costume change.
