This expanded edition spreads the 1976 album across two red vinyl LPs, with a non-album single and its era's B-sides along for the ride.

By the mid-seventies the stomping Wolverhampton glam heroes ruled the British charts but kept hitting a wall in America. So they moved to New York, toured hard in support slots and let the city seep into their writing. Noddy Holder and Jim Lea wrote much of the record there, and longtime producer Chas Chandler cut the sessions at the Record Plant.

The result is warmer and more soulful than the terrace-chant anthems fans knew. The title track opens with a confident, polished swagger, In For A Penny swaps the boot-stomp for a wistful singalong, and Let's Call It Quits rides a loose, playful bounce. Female backing singers add a gospel sheen to several songs, a detail that still catches first-time listeners off guard.

The bonus material fills in the period nicely, led by the single Thanks For The Memory (Wham Bam Thank You Mam) and flip sides that rarely sat on an album.

Often overlooked in the Slade story, this is a great singles band stretching out, and it rewards a fresh spin.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0704/2026/7313/files/Slade-Nobodys_Fools_Expanded_2LP_Red.jpg?v=1793957366
