rush-feedback
Rush - Feedback

Feedback finds Rush tipping their hats to the records that made them want to play, eight classic covers on a limited edition pressing.

Released in 2004 to mark three decades since the band's debut album, it was the first time Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart devoted a release entirely to other people's songs. They reached back to the British and American bands they heard as teenagers in Ontario and played them with the joy of a garage band that happens to be one of the most accomplished trios in rock.

Produced with David Leonard, the sound is raw and close to live, with none of the synth layers of their 1980s work. Summertime Blues roars out of the gate with heavy, distorted swagger, Shapes of Things pays tribute to the restless guitar experiments of the Yardbirds, and For What It's Worth keeps the quiet unease of Buffalo Springfield's original intact. Crossroads closes the set with a nod to Cream, Lifeson tearing into the blues with obvious delight while Peart swings harder than usual.

It is a loose, generous side of Rush that fans rarely got to hear, made purely for the love of the songs. As a limited edition pressing, it fills a gap that plenty of Rush shelves are still missing.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0704/2026/7313/files/Rush-Feedback_d9e8182d-7dd5-4aba-a193-efe040eac744.jpg?v=1793188137
