Morrissey was riding high after Your Arsenal, and his band of Alain Whyte and Boz Boorer on guitars, Gary Day on bass and Spencer Cobrin on drums gave the songs a tougher, swaggering edge than the studio versions ever had.

The setlist draws entirely on his solo catalogue, with not a Smiths song in sight. November Spawned a Monster gets a muscular, dramatic reading, and The National Front Disco stretches out into a six-minute storm of guitars and crowd noise. Suedehead gets a rousing outing, and We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful closes the set with a sneer and a grin, the sound of a frontman enjoying every second of the attention.

With sixteen tracks and a band firing on all cylinders, this is Morrissey live at his most combative and charismatic, and the remaster gives it fresh bite.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0704/2026/7313/files/Morrissey-Beethoven_Was_Deaf_2024_Remaster.jpg?v=1793876061
