Classically trained, soulful, entirely uninterested in the genre's usual growl, he changed what Greenleaf could be.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eWhat lifts this 2024 record above the pack is what Hällagard writes about. He works with people struggling with addiction and mental illness, and these songs read as symbolic short stories rather than the usual desert-and-doom clichés. A Wolf in My Mind is exactly as unsettling as its title, Avalanche builds a monstrous riff into something closer to panic, and The Tricking Tree stretches past eight minutes without ever losing the thread.
