Fresh from touring The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, the band wanted to capture the energy of their live shows, channelling the noise of Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Polvo, My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus Lizard. Guitarist Vincent Accardi took a bigger role than ever, writing much of the music and sharing lyrics with Jesse Lacey. Opener "Vices" sets the tone with a jolt, and "At the Bottom", the only single, coils and simmers before its cathartic release. "Gasoline" and "Sink" push the noise further still, swinging between bruised melody and full-throated screaming.

Fans were divided at the time, and that is part of the appeal: Daisy is the sound of a band refusing to repeat itself.
